What are analysis categories?

Analysis Categories are used to group together Analysis Codes to make interpretation easier. For example, all Analysis Codes relating to absence can be grouped together, and all codes relating to payments can be grouped separately.

Analysis Categories must be created before any Analysis Codes that are going to be assigned to them.

How do I create a new analysis category?

  1. Select Analysis Categories from the menu.

Existing Analysis Categories are listed on the left-hand side of the screen, in the Analysis Categories box.

  1. Click New.

  2. In the Category field, enter a unique code for the category. This can be up to 6 characters, and can be a mix of letters and numbers.

  3. In the Description field, enter a description for the category. This can be up to 30 characters.

  4. (Optional) You can set a Default Colour to identify this code on the timesheet. Click Colour to display a popup where you can select the required colour.

  5. If you have defined reason codes (on the Reason Codes screen) select one or more of them from the Reason Code Select List to associate them with the selected analysis category.

  6. Click Save. The new category is displayed in the Analysis Categories box on the left-hand side of the screen.

How do I edit an existing analysis category?

Only the description associated with an analysis category can be changed.

  1. Select Analysis Categories from the menu.

Existing Analysis Categories are listed on the left-hand side of the screen, in the Analysis Categories box.

  1. Select the Analysis category that you want to edit.

  2. Make the necessary changes to the Description, Default Colour and/or the Reason Code Select List.

  3. Click Save.

How do I delete an existing analysis category?

An analysis category can only be deleted if there are no analysis codes associated with it.

  1. Select Analysis Categories from the menu.

Existing Analysis Categories are listed on the left-hand side of the screen, in the Analysis Categories box.

  1. Select the Analysis category that you want to delete.

  2. Click Delete.

  3. You are asked to confirm that you want to delete the category. Click Yes if you want to continue with the deletion. Otherwise, click No.

  • If there are no analysis codes associated with the category, it is deleted. You will see a green confirmation message, and the category is no longer displayed in the Analysis Categories box on the left-hand side of the screen.

  • If there are analysis codes associated with the category, it is not deleted. You will see a red message telling you that the category is being used by an analysis code.
